The Last Watch...

This twin image was the piece i created for my first module of the second year of my degree. Inspired by the work of Pre-Raphaelite painter Lord Frederic Leighton, in particular his oil on canvas painting 'The last watch of Hero' and it's predella piece 'The death of Leander' the images place the viewer in the middle of a moment of realisation frozen in time.

The depiction of an apparent suicide and the discovering of the body was a reaction to the newspaper headlines of a sharp increase in teen suicides around the summer of 2008.

The places you have come to fear the most...

These images are taken from the final project of the first year of my BA (Hons) Documentary & Fine Art Photography.
This project was focused on places of regular congregation that are transformed into something less welcoming in the late night/early morning hours.

all images were taken around West Didsbury, Manchester in early 2008.
